Overview
Astonda is an experimental VR work drawing on ideal-city architecture, meditative practices and sound-based exploration. Its environments encourage attentive navigation rather than conventional objectives, with a central communal space and distinct areas organised around sensory experiences.
Challenge
The challenge was turning a conceptual and contemplative design into accessible, responsive VR interaction. Spatial sound and environmental cues needed to support navigation without compromising presence or comfort, while complex architecture had to run at VR frame rates.
Development
Development focused on Unity-based VR movement, gameplay and interaction systems, environment and audio integration, and real-time optimisation. Technical choices supported transitions between distinct architectural and meditative spaces.
Outcome
Delivered as work on a private commissioned VR project, demonstrating how interactive game systems can support experimental, sensory and spatial experiences.
