Overview
Created in collaboration with artist Won Jy, Fantôme 3008 reconstructs the demolished Vaisseau 3008 in Nîmes. Through an explorable virtual environment, the work brings together architectural scans, graffiti, archives and memories associated with a cultural space that no longer exists.
Challenge
The challenge was adapting scanned architecture and documentation into a coherent, accessible real-time experience without losing the identity and cultural histories of the original building. Browser performance and intuitive exploration were key constraints.
Development
Working in Unity, the digital development included integrating the reconstructed environment, building navigation and interaction, and preparing an accessible WebGL experience. Won Jy led the artistic direction and 3D documentation.
Outcome
Presented publicly in 2024 in connection with Le Spot in Nîmes, the project offers an interactive form of cultural remembrance and demonstrates how game technologies can preserve and reinterpret disappearing places.
