Fame/Shame – Overlay

Overview

Fame/Shame – Overlay is an artist-led augmented reality installation for Studio 13/16 at Centre Pompidou. Its custom iPad experience lets visitors write messages, select physical signs or objects and see their words transformed into site-specific AR interventions.

Challenge

The application had to combine multiple physical targets, dynamic visitor-generated text and an interface suitable for repeated museum use. Stable tracking and straightforward interaction were essential without distracting from the artist's ideas.

Development

AzurParang developed the application in Unity and AR Foundation, including image recognition, custom text entry, target selection, multiple visual presets, stable placement and screenshot capture. The experience runs locally on exhibition iPads.

Outcome

Delivered as a bespoke participatory AR application for a Centre Pompidou installation, enabling visitors to contribute directly to the artwork and demonstrating accessible creative interaction in a museum setting.
