Overview
Mind the Gap is an experimental third-person game set beneath Paris, moving from Châtelet station into increasingly abstract, liminal underground environments. Players navigate a world containing an additional spatial dimension, using changes along a fourth axis to reveal hidden geometry, paths and relationships between objects.
Challenge
The central challenge was making a fourth spatial dimension legible and playable on a conventional 3D screen. The game also needed to balance unfamiliar spatial rules with coherent navigation, atmosphere and cinematic framing.
Development
Developed in Unity with custom fourth-dimensional slicing systems, third-person controls, fixed and zone-based camera compositions and environmental design. NavMesh-driven NPCs and a four-dimensional creature test how characters and threats interact with unconventional spatial rules.
Outcome
The project remains in development. Its playable vertical slice demonstrates fourth-dimensional navigation in a third-person environment, providing a basis for further exploration of perception, level design and spatial experimentation.
